Apply Now for FIRE's Summer Legal Internship

Attention all rising second- and third-year law students! FIRE is now accepting applications for our Summer 2009 Legal Internship.

We're looking for rising second- and third-year law students with an interest in core constitutional liberties. Our legal interns will work directly with FIRE attorneys to perform legal research and compose memoranda on current FIRE cases and issues. Accordingly, we ask that all applicants possess excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills. While supervised and well-structured, our legal internship allows participating students significant autonomy in developing their own legal interests within FIRE's focus on constitutional law on campus. FIRE attorneys will be available for assistance in the development of writing samples and legal scholarship.

As a former FIRE legal intern myself, take it from me: If you're interested in constitutional law generally, or the First Amendment specifically, you will be hard pressed to find a more engaging, productive way to spend your summer. Following my 1L year at NYU Law, I knew I wanted to sharpen my research skills while simultaneously pursuing my interest in the First Amendment. FIRE proved to be a perfect fit. I enjoyed direct supervision from talented attorneys and learned first-hand how constitutional law impacts students and faculty across the country. My work was hands-on and rewarding; I wasn't just pushing paper. I returned to NYU that fall feeling focused and prepared for my second year.
