Yesterday’s victory in DeJohn v. Temple University in the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals demonstrated that the arguments administrators use to defend their harassment policies truly are specious. Now’s a good time to read up on your rights on campus. A section of FIRE’s Guide to Free Speech on Campus outlines the free speech protections and Supreme Court precedent surrounding the issue of harassment codes. Anyone can download the Guide for free from FIRE’s Guides page. Students and professors can order free copies of FIRE’s free speech guide and the rest of FIRE’s Guides to Student Rights on Campus here.
