Subject: Note from DePaul University

Dear Mr. French,

I saw the posting on your Web site today and looked into the issue you highlighted regarding the policy revision for posting flyers. You are correct that a new bullet was recently added indicating that flyers promoting “propaganda” will not be accepted. I have been advised that it was added in an attempt to refine the policy. Our administrators agree that it did not fulfill this goal, and I have asked for it to be removed and the policy to be reviewed for additional clarification.

I stand by the intent of my letter, which was to convey DePaul’s respect for freedom of speech and role in providing outlets for conversations between individuals with a variety of viewpoints.

Sincerely,

Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M.
