To all Korbel students who are thinking about enrolling in The Domestic and International Consequences of the Drug War in the spring of 2012.

Because of my unprecedented banishment from my graduate drug war class in spring, 2011, I want to make sure that I do not have another teaching catastrophe in 2012.  Yesterday Peter Bonilla of THE FIRE published an essay  titled “University of Denver Student Speaks out Against Punishment of Professor.”  The student is Alexis Kopaskowski whose prose occupies a large chunk of Peter’s paper.  if my course is on your radar,  PLEASE  go to the FIRE’s web page and READ Alexis’s comments in order to determine if you will be able to handle my materials on the culture of sin in American life.  I would also suggest that you go to the DU Faculty Forum page and read the pieces by myself and Dean Saitta. I am sure you understand that I do not want to go through another trauma brought on [b]y anonymous letters.  I thought the voice of a student might help in your registration decision making and protect me from DU administrators.  I will not change the course because of this fearful event because I believe in academic freedom.  For the record, any student who enrolled last spring is welcome to audit any section from the last seven weeks.

Please have a wonderful Thanksgiving and winter break.

Arthur
