If you haven’t been keeping up, check out Eugene Volokh’s thoughts on the NYU Mohammed cartoon controversy
over at the Volokh Conspiracy
. As always, Eugene is as prolific as he is brilliant, with over half a dozen insightful posts on the topic so far. His post “NYU President Sexton on Academic Freedom
” is perhaps my favorite. In it he concludes that NYU President Sexton’s unwillingness to stand up for principle has resulted in “[a] sad day for elite American higher education; a sad day for NYU; and a sad day for the Sexton presidency and the Sexton legacy.”
I recommend that you read them all.
