FIRE and Speech Codes in ‘Reason’
Reason Online has an article today decrying the continued existence of restrictive speech codes as a “persistent threat to liberty on college campuses.” The article points to FIRE’s recent finding that 75% of colleges and universities we surveyed maintain at least one policy that clearly and substantially restricts speech protected by the First Amendment, and highlights several of FIRE’s recent cases, including those at the University of Delaware and the University of Central Florida.
