FIRE ‘In the News’ for March
As Torch readers know, one of the major contributing factors to FIRE’s continued success in winning victories for students and faculty is the national and local media attention our cases often receive. March was no exception, as media continued to bring FIRE’s involvement at San Francisco State University (SFSU) to the public.
FIRE’s involvement and eventual success at SFSU appeared in a variety of sources, including The Special Report with Brit Hume on FOXNews.com. Other coverage of SFSU included articles by Brendan Conway in National Review Online, Joe Murray in The Evening Bulletin, Herbert London in Insight Magazine, and an article by FIRE’s own Luke Sheahan in Family Security Matters.
FIRE President Greg Lukianoff also authored a piece appearing in The Chronicle of Higher Education exploring our involvement in the debate over “social justice” requirements at Teachers College of Columbia University. Columbia also got the attention of Inside Higher Ed’s Andy Guess, who reported on sanctions imposed against students who disrupted a speech by Minutemen Project Founder Jim Gilchrist on the campus last October.
Our thanks go to all who helped us get the word out about these and other violations of students’ rights on campus. For a complete list of all of FIRE’s media coverage for the month of March, please visit our In the News page, or e-mail media@thefire.org to subscribe to FIRE’s press release list.
