FIRE President Greg Lukianoff Speaking at Texas A&M, UT Austin Next Week

FIRE President Greg Lukianoff will speak on the campuses of Texas A&M University and the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) on September 24 and 26, respectively. Both talks are free and open to the public. At Texas A&M, Greg will discuss the current state of free speech on campus and his book Unlearning Liberty: Campus Censorship and the End of American Debate. At UT Austin, Greg will speak on the topic of artistic expression and freedom of speech as a panelist at the school’s annual Free Speech Dialogues event. Greg will be joined on the panel by University of North Texas professor Nora Gilbert and University of Michigan professor Daniel Jacobson. Both Texas A&M and UT Austin are “red light” schools in FIRE’s Spotlight database, which means each school has at least one speech code that both clearly and substantially restricts freedom of expression.Greg Lukianoff ‘Unlearning Liberty’ Talk at Texas A&MWhen: 4 p.m., Tuesday, September 24Where: Evans Library, Whitley SuiteWho: Sponsored by Professor Kristi SweetGreg Lukianoff Artistic Expression and Freedom of Speech Talk at UT AustinWhen: 7 p.m., Thursday, September 26Where: College of Liberal Arts, Room 0.128Who: Sponsored by UT Austin Department of Philosophy   FIRE supporters in the area are encouraged to attend.
