FIRE’s Largest Ever Student Network Conference Begins Tonight!

The 2014 FIRE Student Network Conference begins today! Students from across the country are descending on Bryn Mawr College for FIRE’s largest student conference to date. The conference will kick off this evening with an introductory dinner followed by an address from noted youth advocate and Free-Range Kids author Lenore Skenazy.

Tomorrow, attendees have a packed day with talks from FIRE staff on student rights and break-out sessions on topics such as “First Amendment on Campus: Case Law” and “America’s Worst Speech Codes.” Students will also hear from Robert Corn-Revere, an expert in First Amendment law and a partner in FIRE’s Stand Up For Speech initiative. After dinner, attendees will hear from Jonathan Rauch, author of Kindly Inquisitors: The New Attacks on Free Thought and recipient of the 2005 National Magazine Award.

Sunday morning features a presentation from FIRE’s very own summer interns, followed by a panel discussion with some of the top student advocates for free speech. When students leave after the closing luncheon, they will head back to campus armed with the tools they need to promote free speech and student rights. Make sure you follow FIRE on Facebook and Twitter (@TheFIREorg) to see our updates from the conference. Don’t forget to use #FreeSpeech14!
