FIRE’s Work at Minnesota Highlighted in Minneapolis ‘Star Tribune’

Katherine Kersten of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, who originally broke the story of the University of Minnesota's proposals to add ideological and political litmus tests to its teacher education process, has authored a fantastic article about FIRE's involvement in the case. Kersten compares Minnesota's proposal to the thought reform program at the University of Delaware that FIRE exposed two years ago and notes that:

The debacle at the U of M illustrates the gulf that separates higher-education officials and ordinary citizens on the subject of freedom of speech and thought. University leaders seem clueless about these rights' crucial importance, while average folks grasp intuitively that thought control is wrong.

Well said. You can read the whole article here.
