1. A special meeting of both the Gainesville City Commission and Alachua County Commission begins at 3 p.m. in the Alachua County Administration Building, 12 SE First St. On the agenda is the transition study for Alachua County Fire Station No. 19.

2. The Florida Free Speech Forum “Unlearning Liberty” will feature guest speaker Greg Lukianoff, first amendment attorney and columnist for the Huffington Post. It is open to the public and begins with a buffet lunch, 11:30 a.m. today, Paramount Hotel, Southwest 13th Street.

3. At Christmas Tree Village, see Santa’s workshop, the Sweet Shoppe, a snow scene and more, from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays-Sundays, through Dec. 24. Santa is available for photos every Saturday and Sunday, Greathouse Butterfly Farm, 20329 NE State Road 26, Earleton. (475-2088)

4. Auditions for the Actors’ Warehouse production of Katori Hall’s play “The Mountaintop,” set during the final hours of Dr. Martin Luther King’s life at the Lorraine Motel in 1968 Memphis.
