Your donation allows FIRE to defend the liberty of students and faculty on our nation's campuses. FIRE is funded entirely through individual donations and receives no government funding. We accept contributions via telephone, online, postal mail, and wire transfers, as well as in-kind gifts, stock, and automobile donations.

FIRE is a charitable and educational, tax-exempt foundation within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to FIRE are deductible to the fullest extent provided by tax laws.

Online
FIRE accepts both one-time and recurring gifts through our secure online donation forms and can process American Express, VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and Diner's Club.
One-time gifts can be made by using our secure donation form.
Recurring credit card gifts can be made by using our secure recurring donation form.
Gifts can be scheduled as weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Your recurring gift to FIRE provides regular support to programs that defend individual rights in higher education.

Vehicle donations can be made through the Vehicle Donation to any Charity (V-DAC) program which will handle the process of auctioning your car and will then send the proceeds directly to FIRE. For more information please visit the V-DAC website here.

Stock
Your stockbroker or company can break down stock certificates into two groups: shares you wish to donate to FIRE and shares you wish to retain for yourself. If you have physical possession of the shares, you must sign a stock power and security release form. Our broker, listed below, is more than willing to fax you these forms. For federal income tax purposes, people making securities donations to FIRE may deduct the current market value of the stock from their taxable income. You do not incur capital gains from the sale of the stock. The fair market value of the donation is typically the donor's cost basis in the securities combined with any amount that would have been a long-term capital to the donor had the securities been sold. Other factors may affect the deductibility of these donations, and, because state tax laws vary, please consult your tax advisor.
Combined Federal Campaign
FIRE participates in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the annual workplace giving program for federal employees. Federal employees who wish to donate to FIRE through the CFC can do so by designating funds to organization number 10079.
