University of Delaware, Thought Reform, and Widgets

Many students from the University of Delaware (UD) have contacted FIRE to express their outrage over the university’s reeducation program. Don’t worry, there is much you can do in addition to speaking out on campus. FIRE has assembled essential resources to aid active students, faculty members, and concerned citizens in their efforts to oppose campus oppression.
We encourage college students, and especially students at UD, to join
FIRE’s Campus Freedom Network (CFN), our new initiative to preserve individual rights on college campuses. The CFN is a network of students and faculty members dedicated to advancing individual liberty on their campuses. A new CFN website is currently under construction. It will feature dynamic resources and interactive capabilities to aid free speech advocates’ efforts in higher education.
FIRE’s Guide to First Year Orientation and Thought Reform on Campus offers a concise introduction to programs like the one seen at UD and to the constitutional barrier between educating students and violating their freedom of conscience which university authorities may not cross. Students can
order the thought reform
Guide from FIRE’s website free of charge. Please do. It’s an excellent resource for understanding your right to freedom of conscience. If you’d like to distribute a large quantity of thought reform
Guides on the UD campus, or on any other campus, please inquire at guides@thefire.org.
1. Visit
thefire.org/spotlight and select your school by state, region, or just by typing its name into the search box.
2. When your school’s page comes up, look on the right sidebar to see the widget for that particular school. Below it is a box with some text in it—select it all and copy it to the clipboard.
3. Go to your blog or website, and paste in the text wherever you want the widget to appear (it’s made for a sidebar, but should work anywhere).
4. Send us a link to your site with the widget posted on it and your mailing address.
