Student Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment or Hostile Environments in the Academic/Educational Environment 07-08
Under this policy, all forms of discrimination/harassment based upon the following protected categories are prohibited and will not be tolerated; race, creed, religion, color, national origin/nationality, ancestry, age, sex/gender (including pregnancy), marital status, familial status, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, domestic partnership status, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, disability, (including perceived disability, physical, mental, and/or intellectual disabilities), or liability for service in the Armed Forces of the United States.
Third party harassment is unwelcome behavior of a sexual, racial or derogatory nature regarding any protected category, that is not directed at an individual but is a part of that individual’s academic environment. Third party harassment based upon any of the aforementioned protected categories is prohibited by this policy.
Examples of Behaviors That May Constitute Prohibited Academic/Educational Environment or Harassment Include, But Are Not Limited To: [...] * Calling another by an unwanted nickname which refers to one or more of the above characteristics, or telling ethnic jokes which harass a student or create a hostile learning environment. * Using derogatory references regarding any of the above characteristics in any academic-related communication. [...] *Displaying or distributing material in the academic setting that contains language or images that are derogatory or demeaning, based upon any of the foregoing classifications.
Student Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment or Hostile Environments in the Academic/Educational Environment 07-08
Behaviors that may constitute sexual harassment include but are not limited to: * Generalized gender-based remarks and comments. * Unwanted physical contact such as intentional touching, grabbing, pinching, brushing against another’s body or impeding or blocking movement. * Verbal or written sexual suggestive or obscene comments, jokes or propositions including letters, notes, e-mail, invitations, gestures or inappropriate comments about a person’s clothing. * Visual contact, such as leering or staring at another’s body, gesturing, displaying sexually suggestive objects, cartoons, posters, magazines or pictures of scantily-clad individuals [....]
For the purposes of this policy, sexual harassment, with or without sexual conduct, is defined, as in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Guidelines to include: unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when, for example: [...] Such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's academic/work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive academic/work environment.
Hostile Work Environment Sexual Harassment is a form of harassment that may include unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that has the purpose or effect of substantially interfering with an individual’s academic and/or work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive academic and/or work environment. Gender-based harassment may give rise to a claim of a hostile environment whether or not sexual activity or language is involved, if it has the purpose or effect of abusing, devaluing or subordinating the members of one sex and it adversely affects an individual’s academic and/or employment opportunities.

Student Handbook: Campus Code of Conduct 07-08
The Campus Conduct Code specifically prohibits the following:

7. Behavior that constitutes an invasion or violation of an individual’s rights to privacy or to non-discriminatory treatment. Examples of behaviors that might be found to violate this provision include but are not limited to harassing or terroristic behavior, stalking, imposing physical or mental restraints on another person, or engaging in obscene verbal or written communications, exhibitionism or other invasive action toward another person.

11. Disorderly, lewd, indecent or obscene conduct/expression or exhibitionism including but not limited to on the College property or at a College-sponsored or supervised function.
