[E]veryone who chooses to live in or visit our apartment community must understand that we will not tolerate any form of bigotry, harassment, intimidation, threat, or abuse, whether verbal or written, physical or psychological, direct or implied. Alcohol or substance abuse, ignorance, or "it was a joke" will not be accepted as an excuse. We will respond to such behavior recognizing that education is our most powerful tool.

Code of Student Life: Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy Statement and Procedures for Complaints of Discrimination or Harassment 07-08
Harassment of an individual or group that is related to their
status in a protected class that is sufficiently severe, persistent,
or pervasive so as to interfere with or limit the ability of the
individual or group to participate in or benefit from the
University of North Dakota’s programs or activities is prohibited.
Harassment may take the form of oral, written, graphic, or
physical conduct that is related to an individual’s or group’s
protected class status. This includes gender, race, national origin,
color, disability, or other protected classes.

Actions constitute harassment if (1) they
substantially interfere with another’s educational opportunities,
peaceful enjoyment of residence, physical security,
or terms/conditions of employment, and (2) they are taken
with a general intent to engage in the actions and with the
knowledge that the actions are likely to substantially
interfere with educational opportunities, peaceful enjoyment
of residence, physical security, or terms/conditions of
employment. Such intent and knowledge may be inferred
from all the circumstances.
