Policies on Diversity and Multiculturalism (Learn More)
Diversity 06-07
Liberal education at Stetson means liberating yourself from prejudice. [...]
We start by affirming the human dignity, worth, and equality of each member of our community. We protect and encourage each other. Through sharing our life stories and the stories of our ancestors, we learn how people have been unfairly treated or privileged because of race, ethnicity, religion, economic class, or sexual orientation.

Sexual Harassment 06-07
The law defines sexual harassment as any unwelcome
sexual advances or requests for sexual favors or any conduct of a sexual nature when:
[...]
Such conduct has the purpose or effect of substantially interfering with an
individual’s work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile, or
offensive working or learning environment.
BEHAVIOR
[...]
* Verbal, including unwelcome requests for a date or sexual favors, lewd
remarks, or sounds
* Visual, including unwelcome exposure to sexual photos, cartoons, or
drawings.
The “hostile work or learning environment” form of sexual
harassment may include offensive language, jokes, gestures, comments,
pictures, calendars, or graffiti. In order to determine whether a hostile
environment exists, the standard applied shall be what type of conduct a
“reasonable person” would think is offensive, intimidating, or hostile.

The following standards apply to the use of the Internet:
Offensive, rude, obscene, or harassing material via any electronic mail or bulletin board facility is strictly forbidden.
The Internet is not to be used for political or commercial purposes.
Broadcasting messages to lists or individuals is not allowed.

Posting 06-07

notices, flyers, and handbills — must be approved by the Student Life Office
before they are posted or otherwise distributed. Each posting must include the
stamp of the Student Life Office. Postings will be removed if they do not include
this stamp.
2. Postings by outside organizations: Before an outside organization posts or
distributes information on campus, the organization must obtain the approval
from the Asst. Dean of Student Life; the approval process includes obtaining the
Student Life stamp. The posting must include the outside organization’s full
name. The outside organization must have a special offer that is significantly
better for Stetson students, faculty, and staff than members of the general public
can obtain from the entity. In addition, the display must relate to the College of
Law's educational mission.
