Guidelines on Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, and Harassment 07-08
Harassment is the creation of a hostile or intimidating
environment in which verbal or physical conduct is so
severe or persistent that it is likely to interfere significantly
with someone’s work, education, or on-campus living
conditions.
Examples of harassing conduct includes epithets; slurs;
negative stereotyping; or threatening, intimidating, or
hostile acts that relate to race, color, religion, ethnicity,
national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, or veteran status.
2. Additionally, harassment includes written or graphic
material that denigrates or shows hostility or aversion
toward an individual or group because of race, color,
religion, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation,
age, disability, marital status, or veteran status and that is
accessed and/or displayed on University equipment.

Sexual Harassment is a form of sex discrimination that can occur when: [...] Unwelcome physical acts of a sexual nature, or unwelcome requests for sexual favors or other verbal conduct of a sexual nature, have the effect of creating an objectively hostile environment that interferes with employment or education on account of sex.

Examples of sexual harassment may include,
but are not limited to: [...] 3. A pattern of conduct which has the impact or effect
of humiliating another that includes examples of the
following: comments of a sexual nature; sexually explicit
statements, questions, innuendos, anecdotes, jokes,
pictures; or other written materials of a sexual nature.
4. A pattern of conduct that would humiliate another
(using the reasonable person standard) which would
include the following: unwanted touching, patting,
kissing, hugging, or brushing against another’s body;
remarks of a sexual nature about a person’s clothing or
body; or remarks about sexual activity or speculations
about sexual experiences.

Sexual harassment can be identified as the
inappropriate introduction of unwelcome sexual
advances, requests for sexual favors, and other
verbal and physical conduct of a sexual nature
where sex would otherwise be irrelevant.
Student Rights and Responsibilities: Relations Between People and Groups 07-08
Sexual attitudes or actions which are intimidating, harassing, coercive, or abusive, or that invade the right to the privacy of the individual are not acceptable. Organizations or individuals that adversely upset the delicate balance of communal living will be subject to disciplinary action by the University. Only in an atmosphere of equality and respect can all members of the University community grow.

Residence Life: Rules and Regulations - Data Hardware - DHNet 07-08
The use of the DHNet Port Service is a privilege that may be revoked at any time for inappropriate behavior. Such behavior would include but not be limited to the use of abusive or otherwise objectionable language and/or materials in either public or private messages. All complaints regarding inappropriate behavior will be subject to review by the Coordinator for Residential Judicial Programs.
Student Guide: Code of Student Conduct 07-08
A student or student organization shall not engage in the following prohibited
conduct. A student who, or student organization which engages in the following prohibited
conduct violates the Student Conduct Code and is subject to sanctions as provided in subsection
(3) below:
Verbal or written abuse, threats, harassment, coercion or any
other conduct that places another individual in reasonable fear of his or her safety through
words or actions directed at that person, or substantially interferes with the working,
educational or living environment of the individual, including stalking and racial harassment.

Student Organization Handbook: Code of Conduct and Conduct Sanctions - Nondiscrimination 07-08
A registered student organization may not discriminate against a member or prospective member on the
basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, disability, unfavorable
discharge from the military, or status as a disabled veteran or veteran of the Vietnam era, except as
specifically exempted by law. Likewise, among the individual discrimination prohibited by the University
policy, but not by law, is sexual orientation.
