This form of harassment [...] may also be found in behaviors, threats, insults, taunts, and obscenities that advocate discrimination and hatred toward racial, ethnic, and religious identities.
Bigotry has no place within the campus community, nor does the right to denigrate another human being. The Department of Student Housing will not accept ignorance, humor, anger, alcohol, or substance abuse as an excuse, reason, or rationale for harassment.

Racial and ethnic harassment at the University of
Kansas, Lawrence, includes, but is not limited to,
racially or ethnically motivated
1. Behavior or conduct addressed directly to an
individual(s) that threatens violence or property
damage, or incites imminent lawless action; or
2. Behavior or conduct that has the purpose or effect of
creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work or
educational environment for an individual or group; or
3. Behavior or conduct that has the purpose or effect of
interfering with an individual’s or group’s work, academic
performance, living environment, personal safety, or
participation in a university-sponsored activity; or
4. Behavior or conduct that has the purpose or effect
of threatening an individual’s or group’s employment
or academic opportunities.

The University of Kansas, Lawrence, defines sexual harassment as follows:

* Unwelcome sexual advances, or
* Requests for sexual favors, or
* Verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when [...] 3. Such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's work or academic performance, or of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working or educational environment.
Examples of verbal or physical conduct that are prohibited include, but are not limited to:
[...] # pattern of conduct intended to humiliate or cause discomfort, or both including:

* unwelcome comments of a sexual nature

* unwelcome sexually explicit statements, questions, jokes or anecdotes

* unwelcome propositions of a sexual nature

* unwelcome remarks about sexual activity

Anyone who directs any deliberate and/or intimidating gestures (verbal, written, or otherwise) toward another person, commits vandalism, defacement or damage to personal property, purposely humiliates another person, stalks another person, or makes degrading comments or "prank" phone calls, will face disciplinary action.

Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities 07-08
The student press must be free of censorship. Its editors, managers and contributors must be protected from arbitrary sanctions (Art. 22--E) originating outside the student press. Similar freedom must be assured for the oral statement of views on all University-controlled radio or television stations.
A student, group, or organization may hand out written material on campus without prior approval.
Free inquiry, expression, and assembly are guaranteed to all students.
The right of orderly and peaceful protest within the University community must be preserved.
Discussion and expression of all views are permitted within the University, subject only to requirements for the maintenance of order. Support of any cause by orderly and peaceful means that does not disrupt the operation of the institution is permitted.
