Student Handbook: The College Nondiscrimination and Sexual Harassment Policy 08-09
Unwelcome sexual
advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or
physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment
when: [...] such conduct has the purpose or effect of substantially
interfering with an individual’s academic or work performance
or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive
working or learning environment.

Student Handbook: Hate Crime-Bias Incident Committee 08-09
The
Hate Crime–Bias Incident Committee,
established by the Dean of Students, responds
to bias incidents and hate crimes motivated
wholly or in part by bias based upon race,
color, sex, ancestry, national origin, physical or
mental disability, or sexual orientation. When
an alleged hate crime or bias incident has
occurred, the Dean of Students Office issues
a public statement informing the entire Bates
community as to the precise nature of the incident.
Students are urged to report hate crimes
and bias incidents to one of the deans, Security
or other individuals on the committee.
