'Mallard Fillmore' Illustrates Abuse of Speech Codes

In four Mallard Fillmore strips last week, comic strip writer and illustrator Bruce Tinsley focused on a subject very familiar to Torch readers: universities’ use of speech codes to censor and punish expression protected by the First Amendment. As we’ve said before, this strategy is not new; unconstitutional speech codes have remained common among universities since the 1980s despite having been consistently struck down by federal courts. Tinsley’s depiction of the implementation of speech codes, though satirical, is uncomfortably close to reality. Check out his comics at thecomicstrips.com!
