Marywood University Students for Free Speech
We hope that CFN members will undertake a variety of initiatives to advance liberty on their campuses. One group that has done an outstanding job is Marywood Students for Free Speech (MSFS). This student organization at Marywood University in Pennsylvania is actively working within the student government and university bureaucracy to establish campus policies that respect freedom of speech. Its website contains a history of the organization’s work on behalf of free speech at Marywood as well as essays by prominent intellectuals, including FIRE Co-Founder Alan Charles Kors, and explanations of the importance of free speech at Marywood by MSFS members.
At the end of February, MSFS brought me in to speak at Marywood on the importance of free speech in the university. The event was quite a success, with about fifty students in attendance.
FIRE staff members are willing and eager to speak on your campuses. Inquire at cfnevents@thefire.org.
