Potential Free Speech Violations at Chapman University
Earlier this month, the ACLU of Southern California sent Chapman University a letter discussing what appear to be some serious free speech and freedom of association violations. According to the letter, the university banned Sigma Alpha Mu members from meeting off-campus, prohibited them from wearing their Greek letters on campus, and also banned the group from advertising their group on Facebook.com. These restrictions present a serious and substantial threat to those students’ most basic rights.
FIRE will be investigating this case further so stay tuned for more developments.
