Student Journalists: FIRE and SPLC Are Here to Help!

As Free Press Week comes to a close, student journalists should be sure to check out all of FIRE’s resources on our free student press page! You can find the basics of your free speech rights in our Guide to Free Speech on Campus, discover the various—and sometimes sneaky—ways campus administrators can censor your speech and learn what to do if your rights have been violated. And be proactive—write an op-ed for your school’s newspaper to tell your fellow students about your school’s policies or about why a free press is so fundamental to open debate on campus. Want more? Check out the Student Press Law Center’s website, including frequently asked questions about college student journalists’ rights. As always, don’t hesitate to submit your case to FIRE or request legal help from SPLC—we’re here to help!
