As 2009 winds down, FIRE is quickly approaching our goal of raising $25,000 to hire a one-year Video Fellow. Just over one month ago, the generosity and confidence of FIRE donors Raymie Stata and Kimberly Sweidy enabled FIRE to set up a matching gift fund in support of the fellowship. If we are able to raise $25,000 from individual donors like you, Kimberly and Raymie will double it! Because of the project’s potential to be a "game-changer" for FIRE, many individuals have already made the decision to give to the matching fund and today, we are only $9,000 away from raising $25,000! If you have not done so yet, I encourage you to make a donation today and bring us even closer to reaching our goal.
Why is this project so important? The 2010 Video Fellow will capture FIRE’s unbelievable cases on film and bring our message to a larger audience. We are in the age of social media and FIRE must package its mission in a way that makes it easily accessible and shareable. In doing this, we can alert more students, faculty, parents, and concerned Americans to the abuses of liberty happening on our nation’s campuses; recruit more ambassadors to our cause; and win even more victories on behalf of wronged individuals. With video, we can do all of this, and we can do it at a faster pace than ever before. In a way not possible for other mediums, video can engage the emotions of viewers, grab their attention, and pull them into a cause. For FIRE, this is essential—as more voices join the call for campus reform, reform will come more quickly than ever.
At FIRE, we truly believe that hiring a Video Fellow is key to winning the battle against the PC-driven Academy. With your help, we will raise $25,000, receive the matching grant from Raymie and Kimberly that will double this amount to $50,000, hire a Video Fellow soon after the New Year, and begin to see results—literally!
This is a great opportunity for FIRE to advance our message of liberty to thousands of viewers, and only you can make this possible. Donate to the fund today so you can be sure to get your tax-deductible gift in before the year is over.
Thank you and Happy New Year!
