FIRE is excited to announce that the general application to attend our 2022 Faculty Network Conference is now open

This year’s conference will take place from October 20-22 in Los Angeles, with conference sessions taking place at the University of Southern California Hotel, adjacent to the USC campus.

We are accepting applications on a rolling basis through the summer. Space is limited, so apply early for your best chance to attend!

As in past years, the 2022 Faculty Network Conference will bring together a diverse group of faculty from a variety of institutions and academic fields for a weekend of presentations and discussions of core issues affecting academic freedom and faculty rights. If you’re interested in submitting a paper for presentation at the conference, know that there’s still some time left to apply. We’ve extended the deadline to submit a proposal through Friday, July 8.

Beyond the main presentations, the Faculty Network Conference affords attendees the chance to meet and network with like-minded colleagues from around the country in a wide range of disciplines, united by a shared interest in defending academic freedom and promoting rigorous intellectual discourse.

FIRE’s Faculty Network Conference is smaller than many other academic conferences.

Like our previous conferences, faculty attendees are eligible to receive a stipend of up to $750 to assist with the costs of travel and lodging. There is no fee to register for or attend the conference.

Faculty, as well as graduate and doctoral students, are encouraged to apply as early as possible to attend our conference, before our limited number of spaces fills up. FIRE’s Faculty Network Conference is smaller than many other academic conferences, generally capped at 50-60 faculty, so applying early maximizes your chances of being accepted, though FIRE will also try to give extra consideration to faculty who have not attended our conferences before.

For more information both on applying to attend and present at this year’s Faculty Network Conference, be sure to visit the conference’s website and email facultyoutreach@thefire.org with any questions.
