Attorney Brynne Madway Joins FIRE Staff

FIRE is thrilled to welcome Brynne Madway as an Associate Attorney for our Stand Up For Speech Litigation Project.

Brynne comes to us from the Philadelphia offices of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, where she worked as a litigation associate.

In her role as part of FIRE’s Stand Up For Speech Litigation Project, Brynne helps to bring legal challenges to unconstitutional speech codes at colleges and universities throughout the country.

FIRE Director of Litigation Catherine Sevcenko believes Brynne’s experience and expertise will be a boon to FIRE.

“Free expression on college campuses is under attack, but the good news is that Brynne has joined us to fight back,” Catherine said. “Her litigation experience will be a formidable asset as we move forward with Stand Up For Speech.”

Brynne is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and holds a JD from George Washington University Law School where she served as a co-president of Lambda Law and as the president of the GW Law Feminist Forum. She was also a notes editor for the George Washington International Law Review and participated in the Van Vleck Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, which sparked her interest in First Amendment law and free speech issues.

“Free speech is of particular importance because without free speech we are unable to advocate for our beliefs and ideals, regardless of their popularity,” Brynne said. “My favorite thing about working at FIRE is having the privilege to protect a fundamental right and see policy change in action.”

Welcome, Brynne!
