On February 21, 2022, Indiana University announced its police department would investigate the identity of an anonymous poster who wrote antisemitic messages on Greek Rank, a website where students review and rank fraternity and sorority chapters. On February 24, FIRE sent a letter to IU’s police department, explaining that both anonymous and offensive expression are protected by the First Amendment, which IU is bound to uphold.
