Case Overview

On September 26, 2022, Wallace State Community College instructor Leigh Ann Courington posted on her Facebook that “the devil is attacking” her town because of an LGBTQ Pride event and that “the Nazis . . . got some things right.” Two days later, Wallace State publicly denounced Courington and placed her on administrative leave as it investigates her. On September 30, FIRE wrote to Wallace State urging it to immediately end the investigation and explaining that the investigation violates Courington’s First Amendment rights.
