Attend FIRE’s 2017 Faculty Conference!

FIRE is very pleased to invite college and university faculty from around the country to officially apply to participate in our 2017 Faculty Conference, to be held in downtown Dallas, Texas. At FIRE’s conference, faculty will hear from a variety of scholars on some of the major issues affecting academic freedom today. In FIRE’s effort to make the conference as affordable for faculty as possible, we are offering a stipend of $750 to every faculty member accepted to attend the conference.

Dates, Times, Location

FIRE’s conference will take place from October 5–7, 2017, beginning with an opening reception (details TBA) on the evening of Thursday, October 5. The main conference programming will take place during the day on October 6 and 7, concluding with a keynote speaker on the evening of October 7. More information about the topics of discussion may be found in the announcement on our Newsdesk. Additional information will be provided to attendees as it becomes available.

The conference’s main programming will take place at the University of North Texas Dallas College of Law, right in downtown Dallas, Texas.

Travel and Lodging

In the interest of keeping our conference as affordable as possible and allowing some flexibility in accommodations, FIRE has negotiated room rates at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Dallas Downtown and the Dallas Marriott City Center.

Attendees should plan their hotel stays for three nights (October 5, 6, and 7), and are encouraged to apply early to ensure they are able to get a room at the hotel of their preference. FIRE is happy to provide further information about hotel rates upon request. Both hotels are within easy walking distance of UNT Downtown Dallas, where the conference will take place.

FIRE will follow up individually with accepted attendees regarding flight and/or other travel information.
