FIRE President on MSNBC to Discuss Rise in Censorship of Student Internet Speech

FIRE President Greg Lukianoff will be on MSNBC Live at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, to discuss the striking rise in reports of censorship of student speech on websites like MySpace.com and Facebook.com. This spring, FIRE successfully aided a student at the University of Central Florida who was charged with harassment for calling a student government candidate “a Jerk and a Fool” on Facebook.com.  Judging from recent submissions to FIRE and disturbing media reports, student expression on the Internet increasingly will be the target of campus censors.
