FIRE Staffers Head to CPAC

Luke Sheahan, Director of FIRE's Campus Freedom Network, and I will be heading to Washington, D.C., this afternoon for the 2009 Conservative Political Action Conference. The conference will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel and will last through Saturday afternoon.

The CFN attends a number of student conferences each year so that the current crop of student activists are aware of their rights and have the ability to stand up against censorship and unconstitutional policies on their campuses. As I said this summer after returning from the Campus Progress student conference, I thoroughly enjoy interacting with students who are passionate about their beliefs and want to make a difference on their campuses. FIRE is in a unique position as a non-partisan organization to offer support and resources to students and faculty from anywhere on the political spectrum.

Luke and I will be at CPAC all week, so I encourage FIRE supporters who will be attending CPAC to drop by our booth to say hello and pick up some great FIRE promotional items!
