Relevant excerpt

As an equal opportunity institution, OSU-Okmulgee endeavors to assure that individuals are
treated fairly without regard to race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation or physical
limitation. In keeping with this policy, the use of racial or ethnic epithets or slurs or sexual
harassment directed at any individual on campus will not be tolerated. Violators will be subject to
disciplinary action.
Occasionally staff members, Community Assistants and Desk Attendants must confront
residents to remind them of various policies. Unfortunately, residents sometimes respond by
shouting or making rude, vulgar, indecent or obscene comments to the staff member. Anytime this
is done within earshot of the staff member, it will be considered verbal abuse. An incident report
will be written and referred to the Residence Coordinator or Director of Residential Life, regardless
of how minor the policy violation. Disciplinary action could result.
