FIRE’s Campus Freedom Network Kicks Off a New Semester

Students are back in class for the spring semester and FIRE's Campus Freedom Network (CFN) continues to experience unprecedented growth, with the CFN staff busy mailing hundreds of t-shirts to new members after the conclusion of last semester's incentive program.

As the new semester begins, we encourage our members to hit the ground running and work with the CFN to bring liberty to campuses across the country. Students can work with the CFN in many ways. Writing op-eds about FIRE cases and issues is a great way to get the word out on campus about rampant censorship and about how students can defend their rights. Bringing FIRE speakers to campus is also an effective means to bring FIRE's ideas directly to your campus community. FIRE speakers are available on a limited basis, so book your speaker now.

Recruiting new members is another way to spread the word to other students and faculty members and connect them to FIRE's resources. All new members will receive a free t-shirt just for registering.

FIRE's speech codes widgets are an excellent tool in pointing people to FIRE's resources, specifically FIRE's Spotlight: The Campus Freedom Resource and the Speech Code of the Month. Just post the widgets to your website or Facebook profile by following the simple directions on the CFN site.

Students active in the CFN can participate in FIRE's incentive program and receive free books, gift cards, and Nalgene water bottles, all while working to reform their campuses. The CFN will induct the most active students into the Prometheus Society and offer them guaranteed admittance to the CFN student conference this summer. Last semester, three students were awarded prizes including an HDTV, an Apple Macbook, and an iPod. Those prizes will be awarded again this year to the students who distinguish themselves by their work on behalf of liberty on campus.

To get started, students should register with the CFN here. Also, students can join the CFN Facebook group, follow FIRE on Twitter, and watch FIRE's videos on YouTube.
