Gestures and Comments

No Person employed by, attending, or visiting the University of La Verne shall behave toward an employee or student of the university in any of the ways outlined below and no person in
a position of authority at the University of La Verne (e.g. management, faculty) shall allow another employee, visitor, vendor, contractor, or student to behave toward an employee or student of the university in any of the ways outlined below:

D. Repeatedly address or direct sexual gestures, sexually or racially explicit comments, or gender or race related epithets concerning a specific person(s) to an employee(s) or student(s) if the gestures, comments, or epithets

1. are commonly considered by persons of a particular sex, sexual orientation or race to be demeaning to that sex, or sexual preference, or race AND
2. repetition of such conduct EITHER
(a) seriously interferes with work or learning of the person(s) to whom the conduct is addressed or directed, OR
(b) makes the work or study environment hostile, intimidating, or demeaning to persons of that race, ethnicity, sex, or sexual orientation.
