Introducing Chris Lee

FIRE's legal interns have arrived, and they will be met with an exciting array of work on free speech and due process issues. Chris Lee, one of FIRE's legal interns for summer 2011, comes to FIRE from Columbia Law School, where he is a rising second-year student.

In 2001, Chris graduated with highest distinction from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Comparative Literature and Classics. After teaching high school for a year, he continued his involvement with education by attending graduate school at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature in 2010 after having defended his dissertation on August Strindberg, Samuel Beckett, and Virginia Woolf. In law school Chris continues to indulge his passion for literature and scholarship through his involvement as a founding member of the Saint-Ex Literary Club and in turning his dissertation into a book.

As an intern with FIRE, Chris hopes to learn to be an effective advocate in service of freedom in education and in scholarship.
