Introducing Ryan Ellis

Ryan Ellis joins FIRE as a legal intern for the summer of 2011 following his first year of law school at the University of Texas School of Law. Ryan graduated with Highest Honors from the University of Texas in 2010 with a B.A. in government and a B.S. in communication. While an undergraduate, Ryan twice served as president of the College Republicans at Texas, where he formed a bipartisan coalition with other student leaders and worked with FIRE to overturn a university policy banning the display of political signs in dorm room windows.

At the University of Texas School of Law, Ryan is an officer of the Federalist Society, and will serve as an articles editor for the Texas Review of Law and Politics for the following year.

Ryan is excited to work with FIRE this summer because he believes that the university's purpose is best served when students and faculty are afforded unfettered free speech so that all ideas may pass through the crucible of academic scrutiny.
