Introducing Shelby Emmett, the Newest Member of FIRE’s Staff

FIRE is thrilled to welcome Shelby Emmett, our new Legal and Legislative Policy Advocate, to the team.

Shelby joins FIRE with experience from the office of Representative Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan, where she served as the Congressman’s Legislative Counsel. Prior to serving on the Congressman’s staff, Shelby conducted research on higher education policy as a Legislative Fellow with the Republican Study Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives.

While a student at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, Shelby was an Associate Editor for the UDC Law Review and served as a legislative clerk with the Department of Education’s Office of Congressional Affairs.

Shelby’s experience with higher education policy on Capitol Hill will help her make meaningful contributions to FIRE’s work on behalf of student and faculty rights. We are excited to have this Michigan native on our legislative team. Please join us in welcoming Shelby to FIRE!
