Manhattan Institute to Honor FIRE Co-Founder Harvey A. Silverglate at Alexander Hamilton Award Dinner

The Manhattan Institute for Policy Research will honor FIRE co-founder Harvey A. Silverglate at its Sixteenth Annual Alexander Hamilton Award Dinner. The black tie affair, slated for May 9, 2016, at the acclaimed Cipriani 42nd Street ballroom in New York City, will also honor Bruce Kovner, CAM Capital founder and chair of The Juilliard School Board of Trustees.

Inspired by Alexander Hamilton’s dedication to commerce and civic life, the Manhattan Institute’s Alexander Hamilton Award honors individuals whose work has helped foster a revitalization in the nation’s cities.

As a civil liberties advocate since the 1960s, Harvey has used his expertise to protect the rights of others. From defending Harvard University students protesting the Vietnam War in 1969, to co-authoring The Shadow University, which exposed the curtailment of student rights at American institutions of higher education, to co-founding FIRE withThe Shadow University co-author Alan Charles Kors, Harvey has been at the forefront of many of the biggest civil liberties battles in the last half century. His vast experience, intellect, and passion are sure to inspire dinner attendees.

Harvey joins a distinguished list of previous honorees, including Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Governor of Louisiana Bobby Jindal, founder and CEO of Teach for America Wendy Kopp, and Archbishop of New York Timothy Cardinal Dolan.
