Media Board Policy – Student Media Code of Ethics – Preamble

By August 28, 2013

The First Amendment protects freedom of expression from any abridgement by law. The protection extends to student media, which operates and is judged by professional standards.
It also guarantees a constitutional right to the people, through the media, for a full and fair representation of the people’s views.
Journalists and broadcasters must make utmost efforts to ensure fair, accurate, and unbiased reporting and editing of the news. Abuses of press media responsibility are abuses of the people and of the trust people must have in the media.
