New Video: Michele Kerr's Struggle at Stanford

At the 2010 CFN Conference, Stanford University alumna and teacher Michele Kerr described how the Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP) tried to oust her for her views. In 2008, Stanford tried to remove Michele twice: first by attempting to revoke her admission, and then by declaring her "unfit for teaching" after she was enrolled. FIRE intervened on her behalf, and Michele was able to complete the program in 2009 and is now pursuing her teaching career. Michele advised the conference audience to carefully document abuses of their rights and to find allies (like FIRE) to help them fight back.
