New York State Adopts Statewide Film Censorship Law

By May 15, 1921

New York State adopts a statewide film censorship law establishing the New York State Motion Picture Commission. The commission is given the task of reviewing films prior to exhibition for objectionable content. This is a major blow to the industry because of the state’s immense population.
