FIRE Welcomes Inaugural Jackson Fellows

This past spring, FIRE announced the Justice Robert H. Jackson Fellowship, established in honor of the late Supreme Court Justice whose extraordinary commitment to liberty, independent thought, and constitutional principle serves as a sterling example to FIRE and to all who value freedom and the courage required to sustain it.

This week, FIRE proudly welcomes Kelly Sarabyn and Azhar Majeed, our inaugural Jackson Fellows. Selected by virtue of their academic excellence, exceptional legal writing and analytical skills, and demonstrated commitment to core constitutional liberties, Kelly is a 2007 graduate of Yale Law School and Azhar is a 2007 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. As Jackson Fellows, Kelly and Azhar will work closely with FIRE’s President and Director of Legal and Public Advocacy on a variety of legal projects, including collaborating with FIRE attorneys on law review articles, developing materials for a Continuing Legal Education program related to FIRE’s mission, and assisting with FIRE’s Speech Codes Litigation Project. The Jackson Fellows will work full time at FIRE’s Philadelphia office, and we’re sure you’ll be hearing a lot more from them very soon. Congratulations and welcome to FIRE, Kelly and Azhar!
