Student Housing & Residential Life reserves the right to
deny any request that is deemed to contain material inconsistent with the educational
mission of the university and/or Student Housing & Residential Life. This may
include, but is not limited to discriminatory, offensive, or provocative material or
posting/advertising containing references (explicit or implied) to alcohol or drugs.

If postings are of an offensive or derogatory nature or attack individuals, they should be brought to the Housing Office and will be reported to the proper authorities.
The following guidelines have been established to ensure that flyers are posted in a consistent manner in all residential areas:

The Housing office and building staff reserve final judgment on objectionable flyers, advertisements and decorations.

All flyers must have the name of the sponsoring student group or department. If there is a
contact number on the flyer then it must be an on-campus number. The Student Involvement &
Leadership Office will approve any and all pictures, phrases and words on a case-by-case basis.
Alcohol cannot be advertised in any way on any flyer.

Materials that promote the use of alcohol or other drugs or that
promote discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation,
religion, ethnicity, and/or national origin, or that are obscene,
socially inappropriate or intimidating, or that are offensive to the
prevailing standards of an academic community, are prohibited.

Materials will not be approved if they contain:
1. Any reference to illegal substances.
2. Offensive language or images and/or graphic illustrations.
3. Language and/or graphic illustrations which dehumanize individuals based on race, age, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin and/or disability.
4. Any information which would violate local, state or federal law or University policies.

Signs, banners or any other type of item may not be attached to any
University residence facility, tree or shrubbery without written approval from
the Department of Residence Life. This policy also covers items that might
be hung for display in windows or balconies of any student residence. Signs
cannot be publicly displayed in windows, including, but not limited to,
street signs, golf course signs, alcohol signs/lights, fl ags or alcohol containers.
