Screen ‘Can We Take a Joke?’ on Your Campus for One Week Only in April—Apply Today!

If you’re dying to laugh (or cry) along with the FIRE-supported documentary Can We Take a Joke?, but haven’t had a chance to catch one of its recent film festival screenings, you’re in luck. The filmmakers are teaming up with the national student organization Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) to bring the film to campus for free—but only for one week.

Yesterday, YAL announced that it will grant free exclusive screening rights of Can We Take a Joke? to any student or student group that will organize a screening on their campus during the week of April 13–20 to coincide with “Freedom Day” on April 13.

Interested students can apply to host a screening here!

This opportunity is open to any student or student group regardless of their political or ideological beliefs and does not require affiliation with YAL. Participants will receive a free promotional kit filled with movie posters, flyers, T-shirts, and additional swag to promote the film. All you have to do is commit to promoting and documenting the event by sharing photos on social media using the #CanWeTakeAJoke hashtag.

If you are not a student or want to watch the film without having to commit to hosting a screening in April, stay tuned to The Torch and CanWeTakeAJoke.com—we’ll have exciting news about the wide release of the film in the coming weeks! You can also “like” the Can We Take a Joke? Facebook page and “follow” the Can We Take a Joke? Twitter account.
