Students: Apply today to attend FIRE’s West Coast Regional Conference!
There’s still time to apply to attend FIRE’s first-ever West Coast Regional Conference, which will take place April 29 in sunny Los Angeles.
At this one-day event on the UCLA campus, students can expect a challenging and rewarding program. Here are just a few highlights:
- Students will hear from the best in the free speech business — First Amendment expert Eugene Volokh is slated to deliver the conference’s keynote address. Volokh is a professor at the UCLA School of Law and the founder of and frequent contributor to The Washington Post’s The Volokh Conspiracy, which has been described as “one of the Internet’s most-read legal blogs.”
- Students will receive a thorough introduction to the right to free expression, focusing on the principles of free speech and the parameters of First Amendment law.
- Each student will leave the conference with tips for making waves at their college or university. FIRE staff will work with attendees to develop winning strategies for protecting freedom of expression and successfully challenging illiberal policies on campus.
The conference is free to attend and open to current students at U.S. colleges and universities, including graduate students and incoming freshmen. Meals will be provided and travel reimbursement for up to $150 per student will be available to help you travel to and from Los Angeles.
Space is filling up quickly, so apply today!
