Red Dawn” becomes the first film to obtain a PG-13 rating after the rating is added to the Motion Picture Association of America’s rating system.

This rating was suggested by Steven Spielberg to President of the Motion Picture Association Jack Valenti after he finished production on “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” which received a PG rating despite a scene featuring a human sacrifice.
