Watch now: FIRE due process expert on PBS, CNN’s Amanpour & Company
Today’s episode of Amanpour & Company, which airs on both PBS and CNN, leads with a segment featuring FIRE’s Samantha Harris discussing the importance of fair process in campus misconduct proceedings.
Joining Sam is Anurima Bhargava, former chief of the Educational Opportunities Section of the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice under the Obama administration.
Harris and Bhargava discuss the potential impact of new proposed regulations from the Department of Education that would change the way public colleges and universities handle sexual misconduct claims under Title IX. FIRE has argued that everyone on campus benefits from fundamentally fair proceedings, and that the proposed rules help achieve that goal by taking seriously the rights of both complainants and the accused.
Amanpour & Company is produced through a joint effort between PBS and CNN, where award-winning journalist Christiane Amanpour is the network’s chief international anchor.
