FIRE has produced two feature-length documentaries about free speech history and culture in the United States, as well as hundreds of shorter videos, which can be found on our YouTube channel. Through videos, FIRE educates Americans about the importance of our inalienable rights and promotes a culture of respect for these rights.

Witness the birth of the free speech movement. Back in 1964, in light of growing political unrest, the University of California, Berkeley, banned all political speech on campus. In response, a group of college students— Students for Goldwater, conservatives, liberals, and communists— joined forces to create the Free Speech Movement.
