Position Description

The Multimedia Editor will report to the Senior Director of Communications and work within the Communications Department’s Creative Team to edit and release social media videos, podcasts, and graphics content for FIRE’s growing social media channels and website. They will also provide production support for video shoots as well as schedule and post social media content.

The duties for this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Providing assistance to FIRE’s Creative Team and collaborating with the team on video production and post-production.
  • Editing videos, mixing audio and graphics, and creating content for FIRE’s social media accounts, including X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Editing full-length podcast interviews  while cleaning up, mixing, and equalizing audio and posting podcast episodes on Libsyn, our podcast hosting service.
  • Brainstorming and executing multimedia ideas that will advance FIRE’s mission.
  • Helping to organize the creative team’s assets.
  • Operating cameras, lights, and other production equipment during photo and video shoots. This will include traveling to locations for recording.
  • Creating short clips from our podcast episodes to share on social media to attract new listeners and grow our podcast platforms.
  • Monitoring and helping to compile metrics.
  • Assisting with live-streaming FIRE events and podcasts.

This position will also perform other support functions for the day-to-day operation of FIRE and will frequently collaborate with other staff members and departments on general duties and specialized projects.

This position involves a moderate amount of travel. Occasional work on evenings and weekends is possible.

The expected start date for this position is as soon as possible.

Qualifications

To achieve success, a candidate must be entrepreneurial, organized, and creative. They must also have a good work ethic, be a self-starter, have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and exercise superb independent judgment. Importantly, the candidate must demonstrate a knowledge of, and deep passion for, FIRE’s mission.

A candidate must also be able to demonstrate:

  • A minimum of two years of experience working in a creative environment with video editing experience.
  • Knowledge of various social media platforms, such as YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, X, and Instagram.
  • A good understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • The ability to learn mixing and equalizing audio levels in audio editing software.
  • The ability to deliver fresh ideas for younger audiences and to work collaboratively to produce content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility and creativity during pre-production, production, and post-production of projects.
  • A proven ability to successfully collaborate with remote staff members over email, chat, phone, and video calls.

Salary and Compensation

Starting salary is negotiable and depends upon experience and education level. FIRE conducts periodic evaluations where employees may receive raises or bonuses for outstanding and excellent work.
