Florida Atlantic University: Professor Suspended for Reposting Charlie Kirk Criticisms

After reposting tweets criticizing Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric after his assassination, Professor Karen Leader was placed on leave pending an investigation by Florida Atlantic University. On September 18, FIRE wrote FAU and explained that Leader has the First Amendment right to comment on matters of public concern in her individual capacity. We urged FAU to uphold its obligations under the First Amendment by ending its investigation into Leader and restoring her to her position. On November 18, FAU ended Leader’s suspension and allowed her to return to work.
